Success story for cutting-edge research in Schleswig-Holstein: In May 2016 the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1266 „TransformationsDimensionen“ has been granted and is now in its second phase. It is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) with 12 Million Euro. In this collaborative project thirty researchers from eight institutes and the Johanna-Mestorf-Academy of the Christian-Albrechts-University (CAU) at Kiel, from the Centre for Baltic and Scandinavian Archaeology, and from the Archaeological state museum at Gottorf castle join their forces, supported by a vast academic staff from different disciplines.

The CRC takes a long-term perspective to investigate processes of transformation in a crucial period of human history, from late Pleistocene hunter-gatherers to early state societies, dating from 15,000 to 1 BCE. Link to homepage.
